Alex Miller, affectionately known as the "Spark" by Coach Sylvia Hatchell of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, was renowned for her boundless energy and exceptional defensive prowess as a Tarheel. During her tenure at UNC, she clinched 4 ACC Tournament Championships and made 2 NCAA Final Four appearances.
During Alex's basketball journey at Hillside High School in Durham, NC, she became the all-time highest scorer and earned a place in the Hillside High School Hall of Fame. She flourished under the mentorship of Coach Ovester Grays.
Following her college career, Alex returned to her alma mater, Hillside High School, to serve as the head coach for the junior varsity girls’ basketball team and assistant coach for the varsity girls’ team. In 2017 and 2018, she had the privilege of coaching NBA star John Wall’s 16u and 17u AAU teams. Through her guidance and mentorship, many of her players secured basketball scholarships, including at Division 1 schools in the ACC and SEC.
Her coaching career advanced to the collegiate level, where she coached D1 women’s basketball at Mississippi Valley State University. She currently serves as the assistant women’s basketball coach at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro under Coach Trina Patterson.
Alex continues to foster her love for the game and community by volunteering as a coach for I-9 basketball in Greensboro, NC.
